IMMIGRATION WEBQUEST!
Part 1 - Explore Ellis Island
In this part of the webquest, you will take a tour of Ellis Island.
On a separate sheet of paper, title your paper "Immigration Webquest," and title this section "Part 1." Then write down three new facts that you learned about the immigrants' arrival at Ellis Island.
Just wait until you see what kinds of things they experienced!

Part 2 - Read an Immigrant's Story
In this part of the webquest, you will read the story of a young immigrant boy named Seymour Rechtzeit. Find out what pushed his family to leave Poland, what pull factors drew them to America, and how he made a name for himself in his new country.
On the same sheet of paper from part 1, skip a line, title it Part 2, and answer the following questions USING COMPLETE SENTENCES:
1. What was Seymour's country of origin?
2. What push factors caused his family to leave?
3. What pull factors drew his family to America?
4. How did Seymour affect his community in America (in other words, what did he do that made him famous)?

In this part of the webquest, you will explore various graphs showing immigration data.
On the same sheet of paper from part 2, skip a line, title it Part 3, and answer the following questions USING COMPLETE SENTENCES:
1. Look at the first two graphs for "Percentages of Immigrants from Different Countries." Explain how the percentages of immigrants coming from different parts of the world changed between the 1800s and 2000s.
2. Look at the second two graphs for "Total Number of Immigrants by Year." First explain the general trend (what you see happening overall). Then explain why there appears to be a dip or a spike. (HINT: Use the Internet to research what might have been going on in those years.)
