Greetings! I can't begin to tell everyone how excited I am when I see all the views on my website! It is so great to have this tool to communicate with all of my students and their parents and guardians.
A couple of important reminders:
A couple of important reminders:
- We are having our first test (Chapter 1) on Friday. Students will receive a study guide in the coming days. Please note that my study guides are an EXCELLENT review tool for the test! My study guides are very comprehensive.
- Parents/guardians can help their students to prepare for the test by quizzing their student on the information. For example, ask your student to tell you about one of the topics. Even better, have your student teach YOU what a concept is or how to perform a particular skill. I can say with certainty that teaching is DEFINITELY the best way to learn something! ;)
- Use notecards to your advantage. Students can make a set of notecards (like flashcards) for the chapter, based on the study guide. Write the question on one side and the answer on the other. You can either quiz yourself or have a parent/guardian quiz you.
- Sort the notecards into piles. Put the ones that you know for sure into one pile; review these one more time, but don't spend all day on them. Put the ones that you "kind of" know into another pile. Spend a good deal of time reviewing these. Finally, put the ones that you are confused about or don't know well into a third pile. Spend most of your study time here. If you have questions to ask, bring these cards to class to ask about, or ask your parent/guardian to help you find the answer.
- Study in small, frequent chunks. There's nothing worse (or more ineffective!) than "cramming" for a test at the last minute!
